Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the torque transmission efficiency by spring-backing the elastic deformation of the rotor outer periphery due to the machining load applied to the friction surface and forming a rotor having a high-outside shape when producing the rotor of an electromagnetic clutch for car air conditioner compressor. CONSTITUTION:A rotor medium item 18 is machined so that the first end face 21 on one end face side where an annular groove 14 is formed approaches the other end face which is to become a friction surface 12 after the plane machining than the second end face 23. When the rotor medium item 18 is mounted on a machining jig 19, with the end faces 21, 23 kept downward, only the end face 23 is brought into contact with the machining jig 19, and the contact face between the jig 19 and the end face 23 becomes the machining reference. The end face 21 is apart from the jig 19, and a rotor outer periphery 20 is movable in the vertical direction. Next, when the cutting or grinding of an end face 24 is started by a milling machine, the rotor outer periphery 20 is elastically deformed downward by Lb due to the machining load. When the machining load is removed, the outer periphery 20 is deformed by Lc via the spring back, and the friction surface 12 is made a high-outside shape.
