Summary:PURPOSE:To supply a sufficient quantity of heat to reaction pipes, by connecting end parts of the reaction pipes to each other, passing a fuel gas sequentially in at least two passes, and bringing a joint for communication of the lower ends of the reaction pipes to each other into contact with the top surface of an evaporator. CONSTITUTION:A burner 2 is disposed directly below an evaporator 1, and a fan 26 is connected to a casing externally surrounding the burner 2 to forcibly feed combustion air. An annular distributing pipe 4 connected with a fuel- supplying pipe 3 extended from the exterior is placed on the outer periphery of a top surface of the evaporator 1, and a multiplicity of fuel-ejecting pipes 5 are extended from the distributing pipe 4 into the evaporator 1 to supply a mixed fuel of methanol and water into the evaporator 1. With the evaporator 1 heated directly by the burner 2, an original evaporating capability thereof is not reduced. In addition, since the annular connecting part 12 makes direct contact with the evaporator 1, supply of a sufficient quantity of heat can be achieved even where a compact construction is used.
