Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of soln. component measurement by impregnating a sample into an absorptive carrier which is impregnated with a reagent compsn. for measurement and is dried and optically measuring the liquid phase part generated when said absorptive carrier is physically shrunk. CONSTITUTION:The absorptive carrier 2 which is impregnated with the reagent compsn. for measurement and is dried is put into a reaction vessel 1 and a sample soln. 3 is impregnated therein to effect reaction. The reagent impregnated body 2 is physically shrunk by an optical fiber probe 4 and the liquid phase part generated by the shrinkage is optically measured. Since the process state of the reaction or the end state of the reaction is measurable without removing the body 2 from the vessel 1, the advantage of a dry method is utilized as it is and the exact and highly reliable soln. component measurement is made.
