Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the working efficiency of an electric discharge machine and to provide an increased life for a strainer, by a method wherein a first strainer, straining a machining solution as that for rough machining, and a second strainer, straining the machining solution as that for finish machining, are provided, and the machining solution discharged from each strainer during rough machining is fed to a machining tank. CONSTITUTION:A machining solution in electric discharge machines 10a-10n is fed to primary and secondary contaminated solution tanks 20 and 22 through a rely tank 14 to remove a sludge component. The solution in the tank 22, in trun, is fed to a first strainer 26, chips are removed to feed a filtrate to a primary purifying tank 28. the filtrate is fed as machining solution for rough machining to each machine in a short time. The filtrate in the tank 28 is fed to a second strainer 38, and after chips with a diameter of approximately 10mum are removed therefrom, the filtrate is discharged to and stored in a secondary purifying tank 40, and the filtrate is fed as a machining solution for finishing to each machine. This constitution enables improvement of the working efficiency of an electric discharge machine without increasing the size of a tank and a strainer, and provision of an increased life for a strainer.
