Summary:PURPOSE:To control the excess current of both the AC motors of a rated capacity and a smaller capacity, by switching a current detecting circuit with a change-over mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When the AC motor 2 of a rated capacity accommodated to the rating of a variable frequency converter 1 is connected to the converter 1, then a change-over mechanism 17 is switched to the side of the rated capacity. When the AC motor of a smaller capacity is connected to the variable frequency converter 1, then on the change-over mechanism 17, contacts 11, 12 are turned OFF, and contacts 13, 14 are turned ON, and a contact 15 is short-circuited, and a contact 16 is turned OFF, and the set value of an excess current setting unit 5 is set to be a specified value accommodated to the AC motor of the smaller capacity. As a result, a device can be used for the excess current control of both the AC motors of the rated capacity and the smaller capacity.
