Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a high safe petroleum hot air heater by a method wherein combustion is terminated under a turned-off condition of a switch for turning on or off through removal or a setting of a cartridge tank and then an inverse voltage is doubled against a fan motor. CONSTITUTION:When a cartridge tank 4 is inserted and set in a oil pan 15, an oil tank switch 16 is changed over to a contact point a. When a power supply switch 17 is turned ON, a fan motor 7 is energized, and the oil is ignited and burned. When the tank 4 is pulled out of the oil pan 15, the switch 16 is changed over to a contact point b, a timer 24 and a relay 22 are energized, a relay contact point 23 is turned off and then the combustion is terminated. At the same time an intermediate tap of the fan motor 7 is energized and a current is flowed through a main coil c and auxiliary coils d and e, the fan motor 7 is stopped instantaneously and then starts to rotate in a reverse direction. Then, a contact point 24a of a timer 24 is turned off after a specified time, the fan motor 7 is stopped.
