PURPOSE:To judge the airtight condition of a battery occularly by forming a current collecting plate from a metal plate whose inner surface is in a single piece provided with a plastic layer having acid resistance and hot deposition property, and furnishing a through hole at a part of this current collecting plate. CONSTITUTION:A group of electrodes are covered with a metal plate 7 consolidated with a plastic laminate film 12 with acid resistance and hot deposition property, and this metal plate 7 constitutes a battery jar wall as well as a current collecting plate. A through hole 11 is formed at a part of current collecting plate 7, for ex. its metal portion in contact with a negative pole 3. The laminate film 12 is in close contact with the neg. pole 3 as long as the battery is in decompressed state and airtightness is held, and recess from the appearance can be discerned. In the case decompression is not yet attained, on the contrary, no change will be discerned on the shape of the laminate film 12. This method allows simple occular checking of the condition of intrabattery pressure.
