Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent raw concrete from lowering of slump and to increase the efficiency of working at a construction field by specifying the range of mol.wt. and particle size of copolymer of styrene and maleic anhydride in a specified molar ratio. CONSTITUTION:The agent for preventing the lowering of slump is formed from copolymer powder of styrene and maleic anhydride in the molar ratio of (1-3):1, having 1,200-3,300mol.wt. and 0.1-10mum, especially 0.5-2.5mum, particle diameter. The used amt. of the agent for preventing the lowering of slump is suitably 0.02-0.03% polymer above-mentioned, having 0.5-2.5mum particle diameter to the concrete, for maintaining the slump at kneading (18cm) of concrete kneaded at 20 deg.C, e.g. in the case of concrete added at kneading with a water reducing agent having high quality. When the agent for preventing is added at kneading to raw concrete, it prevents the lowering of slump with elapsed time, increases the efficiency of working at the construction field and, besides, contributes to prevent the occurrence of defect in the hardened concrete.
