PURPOSE:To favorably separate a luminance signal and 8 color signal by deciding correlation by using four sample points of an upper, a bottom, a left and a right parts. CONSTITUTION:A PAL color television signal from a terminal 1 is successively delayed by one horizontal period delay circuits 5-8. An input and an output to/from the delay circuit 5 are inputted to a correlation detection circuit 10, and the output of it is delayed successively by the one horizontal period delay circuits 11-13 of a one bit word length, and the outputs of them are inputted to a correlation decision circuit 14. A switch 9 is controlled by the output of the correlation decision circuit 14. Besides, the input and the output of the one horizontal period delay circuits 5-8 are added by adders 2-4, and the outputs of them are selected by the switch 9 and inputted to a subtracter 15. The output of the delay circuit 6 is inputted to the subtracters 15 and 17, and the color signal is obtained by making the output of the subtracter 15 pass through an HPF 16. Besides, the luminance signal is outputted by inputting the color signal to the subtraction circuit 17.
