Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain an acrylic fiber having excellent separability, devitrification resistance and gloss, in high spinnability, by applying a specific amount of a specific lubricant to a swollen gel fiber bundle produced by wet-spinning, drawing and washing with water and heat-treating the coated bundle e.g. in hot-air drier. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic polymer is spun by wet-spinning, drawn and washed with water. A fiber bundle of swollen acrylic fiber gel produced by the above process is coated with 0.02-0.2wt.% (based on the weight of the fiber) of a lubricant produced by mixing (A) a propylene oxide/ethylene oxide block copolymerized polyether having an average molecular weight of 2,000-15,000 and (B) a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether. The lubricated fiber bundle is heat-treated with a roller drier having a surface temperature of 120-160 deg.C and/or a hot-air drier at 120-180 deg.C in dry state to effect the drying and densification of the fiber. The mixing ratio of the component A/B is preferably (90-60)/(10-40) by weight.
