Summary:NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula (R is lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:2',4'''-O-Di-trimethylsilyltylosin. USE:A synthetic intermediate for producing an acyl derivative containing a hydroxyl group at the 4''-position. PREPARATION:(A) Tylosin is dissolved or dispersed in (B) an inert solvent (e.g. diethyl ether) and reacted with (C) a silylating agent (e.g. trimethylsilane chloride) at -30-25 deg.C for 0.5-20hr. The amount of the component C used is 2.1-2.5mol. based on 1mol. component A and (D) triethylamine is preferably used as a reaction auxiliary.
