Summary:PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a filter, by a method wherein a precoat auxiliary agent is classified and the auxiliary agent with a small particle size is precoated at first and the auxiliary agent with a large particle size is precoated thereon to prolong an internal filtering time. CONSTITUTION:A precoat auxiliary agent 10 stirred by a stirrer 11 in an auxiliary tank 13 enters a centrifugal separator type classifier 15 in a precoat tank 1 through a check valve 14 and the auxiliary agent 10 with a small particle size passing through a screen provided to the side surface of the classifier 15 is sent to a filtering tower 4 by a pump 2 to be precoated on the surface of elements 5 in the filtering tower 4. The auxiliary agent 10 passing through the elements 5 is returned to an auxiliary tank 13. When the concn. of the auxiliary agent in the auxiliary tank 13 approaches zero, in such a state that the screen of the classifier 15 is detached and the check valve 14 is closed, the auxiliary agent 10 with a large particle size remained in the precoat tank 1 is sent by a pump 2 and precoated on the elements 5 on to which the auxiliary agent 10 with a small particle size is precoated.
