Summary:PURPOSE:To acquire a switching synchronization without using a metal wire for communication by making an optical synchronizing signal incident on an existing optical path from a position, closer to a light sending end part than a switching section line part, and detecting the optical synchronizing signal at plural switching points corresponding to both ends of the switching section line part, and taking the switching synchronization. CONSTITUTION:When the switching section line part 5 of the existing optical path 1 is switched to a switching optical path 6, switching devices provided with a MODEM to take the switching synchronization and a switching mechanism part are provided on both the switching points P1, P2, and the path is switched by a prescribed procedure. Such the line switching is performed under a state that the existing optical signal S1 is transmitted through the existing optical path 1, but at that time, the optical synchronising signal S2 from a light source 8 is made incident on the existing optical path 1 through an optical coupler 7, and said optical synchronizing signal S2 is detected at the switching points P1, P2 by detecting means 9, 10, and the switching synchronization is taken. Thus, because the switching synchronization can be taken through the existing optical path, the metal wire for communication is not necessitated, and even when the plural section line parts of the existing optical path are switched, the metal wire for communication is not necessitated as well.
