Summary:PURPOSE:To efficiently blend and homogenize a raw material for a culture medium in one process, by feeding a culture medium substrate, homogenized and formed by heating and sterilizing to a germ-free atmosphere while molding the culture medium substrate into a granular culture medium and keeping the germ-free state. CONSTITUTION:Woody crushed pieces which are a main raw material for a culture medium are fed from a raw material weighing tank 9 to a preblending feeder 7 and a binder is fed from a binder weighing tank 10 thereto. A nutriment is fed from a nutriment weighing tank 11 to the preblending feeder 7 at a specific ratio. The moisture content is then adjusted to about 60-70wt.%. The raw materials are fed to a raw material feeding port 2 then into a cylinder 1 while being stirred and blended in the preblending feeder 7 and introduced into a restricted space divided by the inner peripheral wall of the cylinder and a screw shaft 5. The raw materials are heated and sterilized at about 60-135 deg.C in a tapered zone 4 while being homogenized. The formed culture medium substrate is subsequently converted into a granular culture medium 18 in a die 3 and then introduced into a germ-free atmosphere in a germ-free chamber 6.
