Summary:PURPOSE:To make it possible to very easily carry out robot operation by providing a conveyer for conveying an article substantially along the longitudinal direction of the latter, and a conveyer for conveying the article substantially along the widthwise direction of the article. CONSTITUTION:In this assembly line, conveyers 3, 4 for conveying a body 2 in the longitudinal direction and a conveyer 5 are arranged A control circuit 60 judges the model and the like of the body 2 which is fed toward a rear combination lamp assembling station 10, and judges a rear combination lamp 21 in accordance with the detected model so that a positional signal indicating the position of the lamp 21 on a rack 11 is transmitted to a robot 13 for feeding parts to be assembled. The robot 13 grips the lamp 21 on the rack 11 and extracts it from the rack, and then the upper section of the body is rotated to position the lamp 21 onto a turn table 12. In this condition, an adhesive coating robot 14 applies adhesive onto the rear surface of a lamp 21. An article attaching robot 20 fits the lamp 21 in an attaching recess part in the body 2, and secures it by means of a nut runner.
