PURPOSE:To dim and observe only parts of high luminance by providing a dimming means that dims a part of an image to be observed at a position of an optical system where the image to be observed is formed. CONSTITUTION:The device consists of an image guide section 3 as an image transmitting means made by covering a welding supervisory equipment 1 with a flexible tube 2, a tip section 5 that houses an objective lens that forms the image of an object on an end face, and an eyepiece section 7 that houses an ocular 6 for enlarging and observing the transmitted image. The image guide section 3 is formed of many very fine fiber bundles, and central part having circular sectional form is formed of low transmissivity fiber bundles 8A, and periperal annular part is formed of high transmissivity fiber bundles 8B. In case of observing the state of welding, the tip part 5 is set to position the tip side of an electrode 11 that flashes an arc at the center of the field of observation. Then, the flash part of high luminance is dimmed, and eyes of a worker can be protected.
