Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce the accuracy of the absolute wavelength of a light source by giving the wavelength scan to the stored spectrum at a fixed speed and performing the recording/reproducing jobs with a hole written previously defined as a starting point. CONSTITUTION:The light given from a light source 10 is made incident on the selected one of optional memory elements 16 set on a medium 15 via a collimator lens 12, a light intensity control element 18, a light deflector 13 and an objective lens 14. The light transmitted through the element 16 is detected by a photodetector 17. When the wavelength is scanned by a wavelength controller 11 for recording, the wavelength has a linear change within a scan time. Then, a time series signal is obtained by the photodetector 17 because a discriminating hole is recorded to each element 16 at the head part of the waveform scan. The pulse of the discriminating hole is supplied to a synchronizing signal generating circuit 20 and a synchronizing signal of a cycle T is produced. This signal is supplied to a recording control circuit 22 and the element 18 is opened synchronously with the synchronizing signal for execution of recording (formation of a hole).
