Summary:PURPOSE:To eliminate a need for increasing parts and circuitry by setting the registration mode automatically through an operation of connecting a key telephone set to the connecting means of a direct selector. CONSTITUTION:To the connecting means CNd to which the direct selector 5 is connected, a key telephone set 4 is connected to supply the button operating information of the telephone. What the first normal data supplied after a prescribed time during periodic data transmissions via the connecting means is abnormal is a specific data for the key telephone set, is detected, and the setting of the registration mode is set associatively with said detection. From the connecting means with which the direct selector 5 is connected is temporarily disconnected from there and the key telephone set is connected instead; thereby the interruption of data transmission during this disconnection comes to be a data transmission abnormality longer than the prescribed time, and corresponding to a normal data from the key telephone set following said abnormality duration, the registration mode is set. As a result, any need for increasing the parts and circuitry is eliminated.
