PURPOSE:To control the residence time of liquid to be treated in the casing of a device and prepare concentrated liquid of desired density efficiently by controlling the liquid feed volume in accordance with the kind of the liquid to be treated independently of the separating liquid volume fixed by the rotating speed of a rotary disc. CONSTITUTION:A liquid feed means is provided on a rotating shaft of a rotary disc or on the rotary disc, and a means to control the liquid fed volume by means of the liquid feed means is provided at the inlet or outlet of the casing. For instance, a plurality of rotary discs 1 mounted on a rotating shaft 2 are respectively constituted of disc-shaped filter elements, and the infiltrate permeating the filter section is discharged as shown by an arrow mark (a) through a hollow inner section of the rotating shaft 2. Also, an impeller 4 is mounted as a liquid feed means and the liquid to be treated is fed into from inlet 10 of an outer case 5 shown as an arrow mark (b), flowing through as shown by an arrow mark (c), and the concentrated liquid separated from the infiltrate is fed out of an outlet 12 shown as an arrow mark (d). Also, a return line 13 for the liquid to be treated as a liquid feed control means and a flow line regulating a valve 14 are installed.
