Summary: | PURPOSE:To increase cycle life and storage performance by forming recesses and projections on the surface of a mat made of glass fibers, synthetic resin fibers, or these mixture, and holding colloidal electrolyte in the recesses. CONSTITUTION:Recesses and projections are formed on the surface of a mat 1 made of glass fibers, synthetic resin fibers, or these mixture, and colloidal electrolyte containing sulfuric acid is filled in the recesses 2. Thereby, the colloidal electrolyte exists on the interface between the mat 1 and a plate, and the transfer of the electrolyte is made easy. Since the colloidal electrolyte has a thixotropic property, the viscosity is decreased by gas evolution during charge. However, since the electrolyte is filled in only the recesses 2, it stays in the recesses without transfer to other place and the effect is continued. Therefore, the cycle life, storage performance, overdischarge performance, and overcharge performance are increased. |
