Summary:PURPOSE:To detect ground discharge with both positive and negative polarities at a high detection rate by switching waveform deciding circuits for the positive and negative polarities with the signals of an electric field antenna. CONSTITUTION:The positive and negative lightning waveform deciding circuits 19 and 20 receive a south-north and an east-west absolute value signal 15 from a loop antenna 1 which faces in the south-north direction and a loop antenna 2 which faces in the east-west direction and decide whether or not there is ground discharge from characteristic waveform parameters. The decision results are outputted as a sample instruction 8 and a decision signal 9, but the signal 16 is used to decide which of the results of the circuits 19 and 20 is selected. Namely, when the signal 16 is positive, the output of the circuit 20 is selected and when negative, the output of the circuit 19 is selected. Therefore, the parameters of the circuits 19 and 20 are only adjusted for positive and negative ground discharge and then the detection is performed at a high detection rate.
