Summary: | PURPOSE:To facilitate the introduction of a sample gas along with a higher measuring accuracy, by providing a pair of end plates of an expansible measuring container with a breather valve with a fixed supply-discharge direction of the sample gas, an electro-acoustic converter and an acousto-electric converter. CONSTITUTION:A measuring container 20 has a bellows-like expansible pipe section 21 and a pair of end plates 22A and 22B connected airtight to both ends thereof to be made expansible along the axis line thereof maintaining the parallelism thereof. The end plates 22A and 22B are provided with breather valves 23A and 23B to regulate the direction of flow of a sample gas in one way based on a pumping action of the container 20 and the end plate 22A is provided with an electro-acoustic converter 25 to emit a sine sound wave in the direction of the axis line thereof while the end plate 22B with electro-acoustic converters 27 and 28 to make the size thereof sticking toward the converter 25 adjustable. Then, the sample gas is introduced into the container 20 with breathing action thereof 20 to detect sound velocity in the gas by a phase difference between output signals of the converters 27 and 28. The expansible pipe section of the container 20 is made of a rubber film with a low acoustic reflection factor thereby reducing turbulence of a sound field in an internal space with the action by absorption of an incident sound wave, transmission thereof to an external space or sound absorption of reflected waves. |
