Summary: | PURPOSE:To obtain a soft contact lens of outstanding biocompatibility, continuously usable for a long period, by polymerization along with crosslinking reaction, in the presence of a crosslinking agent and solvent, between each specific hydrophilic copolymer and hydrophobic copolymer in specified proportion. CONSTITUTION:The objective soft contact lens can be obtained by copolymerization along with crosslinking reaction between (A) a hydrophilic copolymer from (i) at least one kind of hydrophilic monomer selected from N-vinylpyrrolidone, N-vinylpiperidone, N-vinyllactam, hydroxyalkyl (meth) acrylate and glycerin-mono(meth)acrylate and (ii) a monomer capable of functional group introduction (e.g., butoxyacrylamide) or (iii) a polymer of the component (i) and (iv) the component (ii) and (B) a hydrophobic copolymer from (v) at least one kind of hydrophobic monomer selected from (meth)acrylic esters, unsaturated nitriles and aromatic olefins and (vi) the component (ii) in the presence of (C) a crosslinking agent and (D) 30-90wt.%, based on the total amount of the components A, B plus C, of a solvent in the weight ratio A/B of 85/15-55/45. |
