Summary:PURPOSE:To prepare the title compsn. having excellent adhesion, water resistance, and dispersion stability, by incorporating graphite and a particular vinyl acetate (co)polymer. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. (hereinafter referred to an 'pts.') vinyl acetate monomer (i) is optionally mixed with 100pts. monomer copolymerizable with component (i) (e.g., methyl acrylate) to prepare a mixture. 100pts. mixture thus prepd. is emulsion polymerized in the presence of 0.5-10pts. at least one nonionic surfactant of oxyethylene-oxypropylene block copolymer type (iii) of formula I or II (wherein a-c and x and y are each an integer) having an average MW of 2,000-15,000 and an ethylene oxide content of 30-80wt.% and, if necessary, 1-10pts. other nonionic or anionic surfactant, and 1pt. or less water-soluble protective colloid to prepare a vinyl acetate (co)polymer emulsion (B). 100pts. graphite (A) is mixed with 15-150pts. (on a solid basis) component B.
