Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a compact and light gate switch-over device with reduced power consumption by using a piezoelectric element for an actuator of said device. CONSTITUTION:A gate change-over device is constituted of a fixed guide 1, a gate section 2 and a gate drive section 10 connected to the gate section 2 through a gate shaft 3 to transfer paper sheets A sandwiched and transferred by rollers 6 opposed to a belt 5 trained over a pulley 4 in the direction B or C depending on the switch-over of the gate section 2. This gate drive section 10 holds a bimolph type piezoelectric element 7 of an actuator with a holder section 12 in cantilever relation thereto. Said element is deformed by a dimension delta at the tip end by the application of predetermined DC voltage to pivot an arm 11 by an angle theta from a connecting shaft spaced by a distance l from the gate shaft 3 and drive the integral gate section 2. Thus, a compact and light weight gate switch-over device with reduced power consumption can be provided.
