Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the development of component segregation and porocity and to improve the quality and yield of a product by suitably adjusting rolling- reduction corresponding to the last solidified position of a cast slab and preventing fluidity of molten metal at the last solidified zone. CONSTITUTION:In continuous casting method, the rolling-reduction corresponding to the last solidified position changing in accordance with drawing velocity of the cast slab is adjusted. It is suitable that the above rolling-reduction is executed so as to satisfy the inequality 0.1<=V.X/f<=0.5 (where V: drawing velocity mm/min, X: total rolling-reduction quantity for both sides of cast slab per unit length mm/mm, f: average solidified quantity in the last solidified range at one side per unit time and unit area mm/min). In this way, by preventing molten steel flow based on volume shrinkage at the time of solidify ing the molten steel, volume shrinkage of solidified shell, bulging, etc., the component segregation and porocity at the last solidified part over the longitudi nal direction of the cast slab disappear or are improved.
