Summary:PURPOSE:To increase a processor in a short time by switching a connection between a channel system and the processor, and starting up a system by a system file after the increase which has been previously stored in a part of an external storage device. CONSTITUTION:A uniprocessor system is constituted with the existing processor 1, the external storage device 2, 3, a channel system device 4 and input/output devices 5, 6. When the processor 7 to be increased is increased for this system, a system file at the time of constituting the uniprocessor system is made to remain in the external storage device 3, and the system file at the time of constituting a multiprocessor after the increase is stored in the external storage devices 2, 9, and the processor 1, 7 are connected by an interprocessor communication device 8. Next, at the same time when the channel system device 4 is switched from the processor 1 side to the processor 7 side, the processors 1, 7 are started up by the above-mentioned system file stored in the external storage devices 2, 9, and then, the increase of the processor is completed.
