Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the line recording density by using a magnetic head to record a data to a magnetic recording medium and utilizing a gamma-ray radiated from a ray source so as to read the bit in reading the data thereby reading the data subject to ultrahigh density recording. CONSTITUTION:Data are recorded magnetically onto a magnetic recording medium 1 by using a perpendicular magnetizing recording head comprising a main magnetic pole 2 and an auxiliary magnetic pole 3 with a constant high line recording density. The data is reproduced by vibrating a ray source 57Co4 perpendicularly to a magnetic recording medium face from a vibrator 5 at a prescribed period and using a counter 6 so as to detect the bit after a gamma-ray radiated from the ray source 57Co4 passes through the magnetic recording medium. That is, the change in the absorption spectrum of the gamma ray by the magnetic recording medium 1 is detected depending on the presence of the magnetic wall of the magnetic recording medium 1 to form the bit of data. Thus, the line recording density is improved.
