Summary:PURPOSE:To realize the registration of a proper image retrieving keyword by displaying the image retrieving keyword in an image display state. CONSTITUTION:Images are read out of an image reader 7 and the corresponding retrieving keywords are registered through a keyboard 4. At the same time, a retrieving keyword is registered on a desired frame of a microimage film by means of a microreader 6. Then a certain conditional retrieving keyword is inputted to retrieval and display a desired image. When alteration processing is applied to the display image, the retrieving keyword is displayed with said image kept under display in case the alteration is required for the retrieving keyword.
