PURPOSE:To enable the photoprint of characters which can be definitly read as a coment without harming pictures by photoprinting the photoprint of inputted characters near the photoprinting screen outside the photoprinting screen of the pictures obtained from a video signal. CONSTITUTION:As soon as a CPU 2 passes a character pattern data corresponding to the inputted characters to a character pattern video signal generation device 3, it stores the inputted characters. Receiving a character pattern video signal, a video signal mixing device 4 superimposes on the video signal outputted from a television and a video recorder and outputs it to an external output terminal 11. A video signal processing unit 5 converts the video signal into digital picture data and a printer controller 6 photoprints it and switches the input of the data to the CPU 2 at the time of completing the photoprint. The CPU 2 generates the digital picture data from the stored character data and the printer controller 6 photoprints it. Thus only the characters of the picture obtained from the video signal can be photoprinted in the vicinity of the photoprinting screen outside the photoprinting screen.
