Summary:PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of strong back tension so as to simplify a multicore optical fiber cable manufacturing device, by inserting an optical fiber tape into a slot so that the tape can be brought into contact with the slot bottom almost over the whole length inside the slot and, at the same time, reducing the residual strain at the time of the cable formation to <=0.05%. CONSTITUTION:The bottommost optical fiber tape of plural optical fiber tapes 10 in a slot 2 is put so that that the tape can be brought into contact with the bottom of the slot almost over the whole length and the optical fiber tape on the bottommost tape is put so that the tape can be brought into contact with the bottommost tape. In such way, all the optical fiber tapes 10 are inserted into the slot 2. Then the residual strain of all of the optical fibers formed from the tapes 10 is reduced to <=0.05% when the optical fibers are formed from the optical fiber tapes 10. Since the optical fiber tapes 10 inside the slot 2 are brought into contact with the bottom of the slot 2 almost over the whole length, it is not necessary to cause a slot rod 1 to produce strong back tension and, therefore, the manufacturing device can be simplified.
