Summary:PURPOSE:To reproduce a stereoscopic picture having no flicker by setting the one field period of a video signal for the stereoscopic picture and the switching speed of a shutter spectacles to 1/2 of the original period and speed by reading twice and at a speed twice as fast as at the time of writing. CONSTITUTION:The signal for the stereoscopic picture in which left eye information and right eye information are switch for every one field (60 Hz) is converted to a digital signal and inputted to field memories 6-9. The contents of the signal written in the memories 6-9 are read at the speed twice as fast as the writing speed. Accordingly, if the respective output signals (f-i) of the read memories 6-9 are switched by a signal switching device 10 for every period of 1/2 of the one field period of an input signal, the output has the same right eye information and the left eye information alternately outputted twice for two field period. The shutter spectacle 13 for the left eye and the shutter spectacle 14 for the right eye are alternately switched in the cycle of 60 Hz by a shutter spectacles control signal generating circuit 5. Thereby, the stereoscopic picture having no flicker can be reproduced.
