Summary:PURPOSE:To enable a control of a soot blower to be performed efficiently, eliminate a non-stable steam temperature and make a steam volume for use in cleaning operation minimum by a method wherein the cleaning operation is started with a heat transfer surface having a high degree of combined preference of a condition of a boiler and stained state. CONSTITUTION:A degree of preference of stained state of a heat transfer and a degree of preference of a state of boiler are multiplied in respect to one heat exchanger, resulting in that the highest degree of preference of the combined degree of preferences is automatically selected. In a soot blower energization point determination calculator 108, a soot blower energization point is determined in response to a signal of efficiency of a boiler and a signal from a combined state preference degree calculator 107. That is, when an efficiency of the boiler is lower than a predetermined value, a point indicating the highest value of combined state preference degree is defined as a soot blower energization point. In this way, one of a plurality of heat exchangers which is required to operate the soot blower is selected and a heat transfer surface is cleaned, and then data is selected again from each of the sensors and a soot blower operating point is selected in a similar process.
