Summary:NEW MATERIAL:A peptide expressed by formula I (P is peptide residue having one or more cysteine residue; S1 is S derived from the cysteine residue contained in the above-mentioned peptide residue; gamma-Glu is gamma-glutamine residue; Cys is cysteine residue; Gly is glycine residue; S2 is S derived from cysteine residue in the group expressed by formula II; n is an integer >=1) and a salt thereof. USE:Capable of holding the biological activity of the corresponding cyclic peptides or free mercapto group-type peptides and useful as an experimental reagent and further diagnostic agent by establishing an immunoassay system and medicines and animal drugs based on the biological activity. PREPARATION:A peptide having one or more cysteine residues is, as necessary, reduced with a reducing agent and reacted with a reduced form or oxidized form glutathione in a basic aqueous solution to afford the aimed peptide expressed by formula I and salt thereof.
