Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce backlash, by relatively turning a subgear for a main gear as the subgear moves in the axial direction by an urging means which urges the subgear to a side of the main gear along the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:A backlash reducing device forms a converting means 21 which converts a movement of a subgear 18 in the axial direction into the movement in the peripheral direction by an engaging recessed part 19 in a main gear 17 and an engaged protruding part 20 in the subgear 18. The subgear 18 is urged to a side of the main gear 17 along the axial direction by a belleville spring 22 serving as the urging means. While the device mounts balls 24, serving as a lock means, to be interposed between a holding member 23 and the subgear 18. Accordingly, the device enables backlash to be reduced by relatively turning the subgear for the main gear as the subgear moves in the axial direction by the urging means.
