Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled material having high sensitivity and having less tendency for pressure fog and pressure desensitization by incorporating a crystal produced by mixing a water soluble halide and a water soluble silver salt to a dispersion which disperses silver halide contg. silver iodide having <=0.5mum mean particle size, followed by effecting crystal growth, and by adding a water soluble iodide. CONSTITUTION:The titled material contains the crystal produced by mixing the water soluble halide and the water soluble silver salts to the dispersion which disperses silver halide contg. silver iodide having <=0.5mum mean particle size, and by adding independently the water soluble iodide to the dispersion, during the crystal growth. The photosensitive material having the high sensitivity, without deteriorating photographic density due to the pressure by using the emulsion obtd. by adding the water soluble iodide, during the crystal growth. The content of the silver iodide in the silver halide is further preferably 1-10mol%. The condition of the crystal growth is further preferably, pH is 8-11, and pAg is preferably 9.5-11.5.
