Summary:PURPOSE:To decrease shearing stress applied between a porous metal substrate having three-dimensional net structure and a press mold during pressing process by blocking porosity by pressing a current collecting terminal welding part, then holding active material. CONSTITUTION:The long side end of a 1.6mm thick porous nickel substrate 8 having three-dimensional net structure is pressed by roller press molds 9 so as to have a thickness of 0.1mm. The paste obtained by kneading active material power mainly comprising Ni(OH)2 together with methylcellulose aqueous solution is applied to the porous nickel substrate 8 with a doctor blade, then dried and pressed to a specified thickness to obtain a cathode plate 10. The cathode plate 10 is combined with an anode plate 11, and they are spirally wound to obtain a plate group 12. A current collecting cathode terminal 13 and a current collecting anode terminal 14 are welded to the plate group 12 to assemble a battery.
