Summary:PURPOSE:To make a converting device unnecessary in the side of each input/ output device by arranging the second address converting means, which converts the address from the input/output device, in the entrance of a storage device. CONSTITUTION:In case of access to a main storage device 3 from an input/ output device 5, the device 5 sets bits B25 and B24 to '0' and '1' respectively and outputs an optional address to bits B23-B0. In case of access to the main storage device from the input/output device in the DMA system, the address of lower 24 bits are continuously updated while keeping bits B25 and B24 in said values, and bits B11-B0 are directly given to the storage device 3 but bits B23-B12 are given there after address conversion in an address converting device 4'. The address converting device 4' has the function equal to that of an address converting device 3 and develops the continuous address outputted from the input/output device 5 to a physical address on the main storage in page units. In this case, various tables in the address converting device 4' are rewritten by an operating system to freely allocate respective pages on the main storage device.
