PURPOSE:To reduce the losses of steam and hot water when they are reused by placing, within a storage tank, a vertical-type variable capacity storage tank provided with multistage supply ports for steam or hot water, and then permitting the tank to store steam or hot water in a variable capacity by filling and discharging liquid. CONSTITUTION:When material to be supplied to a generating turbine for the nuclear-power and thermal-power generation is stored and reused in the state of steam or hot water, vertical-type variable capacity storage tanks 10-40, which are provided with multistage supply ports 13a-13d, 25a-25d, 35a-35d, 45a-45d for steam or hot water, are placed within a storage tank. By using a supplying and discharging means, liquid is filled in and discharged from the storage tanks, and then, steam or hot water in said tanks is used by means of the supply ports in stages at need. And further, by way of filling and discharging liquid, a variable quantity of steam or hot water is stored in the tank so that the pressure of the stores is kept constant. Thereby, the losses of steam and hot water can be reduced to a minimum, and the cost of production can also be cheapened by a large margin.
