Summary:PURPOSE:To automatically sort an entire area to approximate sections to which Gaussian distribution can be applied by calculating the parameter of the distribution of each section from data at a point contained in each determined section. CONSTITUTION:A data input unit 1, a controller 2, a calculator 3, a storage unit 4 and a data output unit 5 are provided, the numeric values of depth X and density N are input as data of density profile from the unit 1, and stored in the unit 4. Section number M aud omission data number K are input. The controller 2 controls the calculator 3 and the unit 4 to variably calculate, thereby outputting the result by the unit 5.
