Summary: | PURPOSE:To obtain a composite body having uniform solidified structure by providing a means for packing a packing material into an inside cylinder and means for heating and forcibly cooling an outside cylinder and solidifying a molten metal under the pressure exerted thereto at the time of pouring the molten metal between the bottomed inside cylinder and outside cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The composite body 1 for a cask to be used for transportation and storage of a radioactive material is formed by pouring the molten metal 3 of a cast iron or cast steel into the space between the inside and outside cylinders 2, and 4 provided with the cylinddical bottom plates made of a steel or stainless steel and uniting the cylinders to one body. Sand 31 is compressed and packed into the inside cylinder 2 by an oscillating bar 30 while the inside and outside cylinders 2, 4 are held positioned, then the outside cylinder 4 is heated by a heating burner 11 and thereafter, the molten metal 3 is poured between the inside and outside cylinders 2 and 4 at the time of casting. The sand 31 is further packed into the space between the inside cylinder 2 and the sand 31 made by the thermal expansion of the inside cylinder 2. The outside cylinder 4 is then forcibly cooled by cooling nozzles 12 to pressurize and solidify the molten metal 3. The composite body having the uniform solidified structure is thus obtd. |
