Summary:PURPOSE:To aim at simplification of the structure and reduction of the cost by employing a set of bridge-type full wave rectifiers and a piece of power transformer having a secondary winding with intermediate tap, and then applying a double overexcitation or rated excitation voltage to an exciting coil by means of a changeover switch. CONSTITUTION:When the moving contact 4a of a change-over switch 4 is connected to the fixed contact 4b for overexcitation side, an exciting coil 1, which is connected to a moving contact 4a in a series, is connected in a series to a point between a pair of output terminals 3c, 3d in a bridge-type full wave rectifier 3, and an overexcitation voltage twice as much excited as a rated voltage is applied to the exciting coil 1 so that a braking plate is attracted by an electro-magnet rapidly. Subsequently, when the moving contact 4a is changed-over to the fixed contact 4c for rated excitation side, the exciting coil 1 is connected in a series to a point between an intermediate tap 2a on the secondary side of a power transformer 2 and the terminal 3d as one of the pair of output terminals 3c, 3d in a bridge-type full wave rectification circuit 4, and then, a rated excitation voltage is applied to the exciting coil 1 so that a rated excitation is performed continuously. Thereby, since this device does not require two sets of power sources, the structure can be simplified, and the manufacturing cost can also be reduced.
