Summary:PURPOSE:To accurately measure the length in case of even different shape or size of a round billet by using the already known dummy bar length in case of the dummy bar part of the round billet and correcting a measured length value at a caliber roll by using the calculating equation in case of the round billet having different radius with a curvature radius of caliber of a caliber roll. CONSTITUTION:About dummy bar part of the round billet, the measured length value at a caliber roll is corrected by using the already known dummy bar length. Next, in case of the round billet having smaller radius than the minimum curvature of the caliber of the caliber roll, the correction of the measured length value is calculated by the equation I. In the equation, they use L for the length of casting billet, R2 for the minimum radius of caliber roll, N for the number of rotation of caliber roll, (l) for the length of dummy bar, R1 for the radius of flat part of caliber roll and l0 for the length of the dummy bar head. Further, in case of the round billet having larger radius than the minimum curvature of the caliber, the correction is calculated by the equation II and the equation III. In the equation II, they use R2' for the minimum radius of the caliber roll after correction and alpha for correction factor, and in the equation III, they use (l') for the the measured length value at the flat roll and N' for the number of rotation of the caliber roll at the time of finding measured length value at the flat roll.
