Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce a processing time, by compressing a picture data, decoding and processing a compressed picture data, and applying a compression process again on a processed picture data. CONSTITUTION:The picture data read by a reader 1 is stored in a disk memory 3 through a converter 11, and a compressor/decoder 2. The picture data in the disk is read out on an image memory 5, then being processed and edited. The picture data on the image memory 5 is decoded at the compressor/decoder 2, and various kinds of processes are applied on it by a CPU8, and it is processed and corrected. A processed and corrected picture data is stored again in the image memory 5 through the compressor/decoder 2. The picture data on the image memory 5 is supplied to a printer 7 through a decoder 6, and a converter 12, and also, it is supplied to a display 10 through a CRT controller 9.
