Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of the titled burner body by fixing the body of the burner for producing an optical fiber to the other side through a specified mold holder, and minimizing the effect of the shrinkage force of a molding material. CONSTITUTION:The molding material 2A such as epoxy resin, silicon resin, or fluororesin is charged into the vicinity of the center in a metallic mold 1, the body 7 of the burner 4 for producing an optical fiber is placed thereon, the molding material 2A is almost cured, then a molding material 2B is injected to the extent that only a part of the burner body 7 is covered. When the material 2B is cured, a molding material 2C and a molding material 2D are successively injected. When injection is finished, a metallic mold 1B is put on, and the burner 4 wherein the burner body 7 is held by the mold holder 20 formed with a molding material with the shrinkage factor progressively decreasing toward the inside is obtained. The burner 4 is heated, as required, with a heater 16 controlled by a temp. controller 17 to prevent dewing, and the burner is used for the production of an optical fiber.
