Summary:PURPOSE:To attain both side reading by a compact constitution without replacing a license, etc., by reciprocatingly conveying a license, etc., and changing the direction of a reading unit on going and coming-back routes. CONSTITUTION:The reading unit 20 is composed of a case 21, a step motor 22, a gear 23 fitted on the output shaft of the motor 22, a gear 24 engaged with the gear 23, a base plate 25 capable of rotating together with the gear 24, a lens 6 fitted on the base plate 25 and a CCD (charge coupled device) 7. The reading unit 20 can rotate due to the drive of the step motor 22, and when the license 3 is conveyed on the going route of a conveyance path 4, it points the 1st mirror 18. Whereas the license 3 is conveyed on the coming- back route, the reading unit 20 points the 2nd mirror 19.
