Summary: | PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a vertical revolving shaft, rotating body and baffle plate of a device for blowing a treating gas to a molten metal in a treatment vessel and to extend the exchange period thereof by forming the above-mentioned revolving shaft, etc., of a carbon-ceramic composite material. CONSTITUTION:At least one among the vertical revolving shaft 4 having a passage 5 for the treating gas, the rotating body 6 for releasing foam which is provided to the bottom end of the revolving shaft 4 and has blow ports 7 and the baffle plate 8 for preventing vortex and waving of the device for blowing the treating gas into the molten metal in the treatment vessel 1 are formed of the carbon-ceramic composite material. This composite material is formed by compounding about 10-50vol.% ceramic powder with coke powder and sintering the powder mixture to about 1,000-2,300 deg.C. The bending strength thereof is made about >=200kg/cm . Boron carbide or the boron carbide mixed with other carbide, boride and oxide is used for the ceramic powder. |
