MATERIAL FOR SHADOW MASK HAVING EXCELLENT PRESS FORMABILITY

PURPOSE:To obtain a material for a shadow mask having excellent press formability by subjecting an Fe alloy contg. C, Si, Mn, Ni, and Cr to cold rolling at a specific draft then to annealing in a specified temp. range. CONSTITUTION:The Fe alloy contg. <=0.02% C, <=0.2% Si, <=0.5% Mn, 30-45%...

Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a material for a shadow mask having excellent press formability by subjecting an Fe alloy contg. C, Si, Mn, Ni, and Cr to cold rolling at a specific draft then to annealing in a specified temp. range. CONSTITUTION:The Fe alloy contg. <=0.02% C, <=0.2% Si, <=0.5% Mn, 30-45% Ni, and 1.5-6% Cr is subjected to cold rolling at >=40% draft, then to annealing at 800-1,150 deg.C, by which the material for the shadow mask having the excellent press formability is obtd. The material for the shadow mask is produced by the following method: The raw material for producing said alloy is melted in the atm. in an electric furnace and is then refined by an AOD or VOD method; thereafter, the material is made into an ingot in the atm. or vacuum. The ingot is subjected to hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing and pickling to the final product. The annealing is executed in the air and/or nonoxidizing atmosphere.
