Summary:PURPOSE:To determine the accurate positioning simply and inexpensively by controlling the unit with an open loop in compliance with speed command signals in decceleration, and in stopping by controlling it in the position where the predictable amount of overrun is taken into consideration. CONSTITUTION:The rotating position of the axis of rotation of an AC motor 1 is detected by a rotating position sensor 3. A speed command means 15 gives out a speed command signal of the motor 1 as a function of the position of the axis of rotation detected by the rotating position sensor 3. An overrun amount predicting means 7 determines the predictable overrun amount in accordance with the speed or the acceleration of the motor 1. The positioning data from the rotating position sensor 3 in accordance with this predictable overrun amount are compensated by a compensation arithmetic circuit 11. The output of this compensation arithmetic circuit 11 and that of a stop-position setting circuit 12 are compared by a comparison means 14, from the output of which the stop-timing of the motor 1 is determined.
