SINGLE MODE OPTICAL FIBER HAVING FARADAY ROTATION EFFECT
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having high Verdet's constant which can be formed to fiber without causing devitrification by using core glass and clad glass consisting of glass having limited compsn. of the components, particularly such glass contg. a specified amt. of SiO2, B2O3, Al2O3, an...

Summary: | PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having high Verdet's constant which can be formed to fiber without causing devitrification by using core glass and clad glass consisting of glass having limited compsn. of the components, particularly such glass contg. a specified amt. of SiO2, B2O3, Al2O3, and Tb2O3. CONSTITUTION:The single mode optical fiber having Faraday rotation effect is constituted of core glass and clad glass consisting of 26-38mol% SiO2, 18-34mol% B2O3, 17-26mol% Al2O3, 18-32mol% Tb2O3, 0-5mol% ZrO2, 0-5mol% Ce2O3, 0-5mol% Pr2O3, 0-5mol Dy2O3, and 0-5mol% Ho2O3 (wherein the sum of Ce2O3+Pr2O3+Dy2O3+Ho2O3=0-5mol%), and the sum of the above described components is >=97mol%. It is preferred that Tb2O3+Ce2 O3+Pr2O3+Dy2O3+Ho2O$d3 is >20 from the viewpoint for obtd. increased Verdet's constant. |
